A Floyd County native, George W. Gesenhues, Jr., earned a bachelor of science degree with honors from the University of Louisville (Speed Scientific School) and a doctor of jurisprudence degree from its school of law in 1978, when he was admitted to practice in Indiana. He also is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana. He is a member of the Floyd County, Indiana State, and American Bar Associations and is a fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.

Mr. Gesenhues's practice serves a wide range of clientele. He was Public Defender in Floyd Superior Court from 1979 to 1989 and continues to have an active, privately retained criminal defense practice.

He currently represents the Floyds Knobs Water Company; Rauch Rehabilitation & Developmental Services, Inc.; Wm. J. Sprigler Development Co.; AML, Inc.; SWD, Inc; New Albany Heating, Air Conditioning, & Electrical, Inc.; Book Heating and Cooling, Inc.; Merrill Bierman Excavating, Inc.; William B. Engle, Inc.; SHOT, Inc.; and various other business enterprises. In addition, he regularly represents individuals in the areas of family law and estate planning.
