Who We Are and How We Can Help
Lorch & Naville is not an ordinary law firm. We were founded in the late 1920s by Chester V. Lorch and Frank E. Lorch, Jr. Later, Herbert F. Naville joined the firm and became a partner. In the years since, our firm has grown tremendously and been joined by well-respected attorneys, trial lawyers and community leaders from throughout the U.S. Today, our heritage continues to focus on civic involvement and professional excellence. Our expertise translates into quality legal assistance for you, provided at a fair cost.
Equipping individuals, families and businesses for success and security now and for generations to come is what Lorch & Naville is all about.
The Best of Both Worlds
Large firms can draw on the experience of dozens of attorneys in solving their clients' legal issues. They also have the resources to handle cases of virtually any size. They can accomplish a lot with just these assets. But the thing large firms rarely do is give clients the sense that they are more than just case numbers or files, that they are real people, and that the lawyers there really care about serving the client's best interests more than they do about how much the client's case might be worth. For this kind of service and commitment, you typically have to look at much smaller firms.
Lorch & Naville offers the best of both worlds. We have the resources and experience to handle even the most complex types of litigation. We are small enough to know our clients by name and to remember that their satisfaction, not ours, is what's important.

A Deep Connection with the Communities We Live and Work In
Family history provides us with a rich picture of the people behind the names that make up Lorch & Naville today. Chester V. Lorch, Jr., was Floyd County Prosecutor in the late 1930s and served one term as mayor during that decade. He fought in World War I and served in the Air Corps in Africa in World War II. During that time he founded the Air Corps Intelligence School in Pennsylvania. Frank E. Lorch, Jr., his brother, served as Floyd County Prosecutor in the 1940s. Their nephew, "Bud" Lorch, joined the practice in 1950. He was joined by his son, Basil H. "Buz" Lorch III, in 1974 and by his daughter, Linda B. Lorch, in 1979. In 1992 Buz Lorch left the firm to become a federal bankruptcy judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
The predecessor to Lorch & Naville was formed in 1982 as Lorch, Moyer, Gesenhues & Bitzegaio. In addition to the Lorches, its partners were William C. Moyer, George W. Gesenhues, Jr., and Barry N. Bitzegaio. The firm became Lorch & Naville in 1987 when it merged with the father-son practice of Herbert F. Naville and Michael G. Naville, who had become partners in 1976. Another son, Timothy J. Naville, joined the practice in 1990.
Lorch & Naville was honored statewide in 1999 with the Indiana Bar Foundation's prestigious Pro Bono Award for extraordinary contributions to making legal services available to those who otherwise could not afford them. The practice accepted 58 such cases between 1994 and 1999 alone, totaling 220 hours of uncompensated service in Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties.
Today we continue to build upon our heritage of civic involvement and professional excellence. We manage our law firm to last into future generations as an increasingly successful and beneficial enterprise both for the communities we serve and for the people who work here.
